Abstract Landscape Painting | Contemporary Fine Art

Melisa Malvin is a mixed-media artist with a focus on acrylic painting. Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, and now living in Gig Harbor, WA, she's inspired by the diverse landscapes and nature of the Pacific Northwest: moody seascapes and forests, vibrant flora and fauna, and those stunning sunrises and sunsets. Yet, she also struggle with comprehending how so much beauty coexists with despair. To make sense of the unexplainable, she finds solace in creativity, be it through making art, music, or poetry.

She creates from an emotional place, and the tactile feeling of spreading paints and mediums with mark-making tools onto canvases is cathartic and joyful. You’ll find her using brushes, palette knives, her hands, and anything else that can blot, scrape, or spray. Her aesthetic ranges from the abstract to impressionistic, varying from smooth and minimalist designs to complex layers and textures.
